, every day! what's in your wallet? [ cheers and applause ] >>. >> jon: 2016, obama's measuring is the second highest grossing documentary of all time. it's a gripping visual journey in the heart. world's most powerful office. it asks the question, if obama wins a second term where will we be in 2016? this film is not getting much attention from the mainstream media. the director had this to say what he believed is the biased press. if mitt romney had a half-brother living in a slum i would be on topic on msnbc, cbs news and all the sunday talk shows but this fact is not reported by those outlets. they pretend it doesn't exist. it's immensely interesting that 50 times quoted the bible -- >> jon: he is referring to president obama's half-brother that is living in squalor in africa. >> it's very interesting how the media has tried to ignore this. because such enormous success at box office they haven't been able to ignore it for long. the box office receipts are pretty good. hollywood is absolutely, i think they have no idea what to make of this film but it's interesting when you
's attacks on romney's tax plan. we've got to add that the obama campaign is releasing this week, let's look at it. >> and won't reveal what's in his taxes and he won't tell you what he'd do to yours. to pay for huge new tax breaks for millionaires like him, romney would have to raise taxes on the middle class, $2,000 for a family with children says a nonpartisan report. you could lose the deduction for your home mortgage, college tuition, health care, how much would you pay? romney just won't say. . >> paul: all right, dan, first of all, let's just say that the use of the wall street journal in that ad was not sanctioned by this newspaper and we don't want to be associated at all with this argument, which i fundamentally think is false. when we get to that. but what about this ad and what it does to the romney campaign? >> well, i think the -- what the obama campaign is doing is just completely surfing under the zeitgeist, and obama separated himself from the unemployment and low growth rate and people have it in their head and an ad like that suggesting thhad the plan to ta berths that cur
. ♪ >> was the obama convention bounce a bust. much made about the president's lead on the polls with those on the left and right, suggesting that republican rival mitt romney is headed toward certain debate. but g.o.p. polls, let's take a closer look at the numbers and he sees something else. good to see you again. >> great to be with you. >> let's take the question first about the bounce. has it faded? >> this rush to judgment is truly breath taking. there's so many people who basically declared the mitt romney campaign over. six weeks before the election, before four debates, before an october jobs report. and i think if you really want to get a sense of where this race is, paul, you need to forget the headlines and look at the data. there are a number of good websites that aggregate the data. real clear politics and pollster.com. if you do that, what you'll discover is that the obama lead over romney in june, as an average of all polls is 2.3%, in july, it was 2.5. in august, it was 2.4, and in september, so far, it's somewhere between 2.5 and 3, depending on the day you look. so, essentially, this
on specifics when you look back to the candidate obama speech in 2008 hope and change, there wasn't a lot of specifics there either. >> exactly. i think that governor romney whatever the president did clearly worked and emulate that by giving absolutely no specifics. even though we know that governor romney is unhappy with the fact that there continues to develop nuclear capability, we don't know what he would do differently from president obama to stop iran from doing that. i mean, i think that eventually, eventually someone will ask the republicans what do you mean specifically? but it hasn't happened yet and certainly didn't happen during the convention. >> should the presidential candidate should be pressed more. of course they should. >> we don't know what president obama wants to do the next four years. >> sure, we've had him four years and he's been much more specific. and nobody presses mitt romney and-- he wants to cut everything to the 20% of the gdp. cut taxes to the rich and raise military spending and said last night, whatever, what night was it, thursday night. that he said
, that was the scene on thursday night, following barack obama's acceptance speech in charlotte, bringing the three-day democratic convention to a close. we'll talk about the media coverage of the president's speech in a minute. but first, something that happened earlier in the the week which most of the media seemed to ignore. >> i'll do that one more time. all those delegates in favor say aye. >> aye. >> all those delegates opposed say no. >> no. >> in the opinion of the chair, two-thirds have voted in the affirmative, the motion is adopted and the platform has been amended as shown on the screen. >> jon: that's los angeles mayor, the chairman of the democratic convention calling for a third vote to amend their platform, this time to include god and reconfirm jerusalem as the capital of israel. it didn't seem to get much attention in the mainstream media, jim. why not? >> it could be because the mainstream media didn't want to make the democrats look bad. by contrast, if this would have been the republican, the chairman of the republican convention would have done the voice votes. it didn't appea
what coverage the media gave his point? >> i think it was a direct assault at president obama. you can't blame the israelis for being frustrated. here, you know the white house was scrambling before all of this mess in the middle east started with the violence and the killing of our ambassador. what was really happening is the white house was trying to say the israelis didn't really ask for a meeting in washington with president. when the president goes to the u.n. general assembly he doesn't have a lot of time to meet with the israelis. i've been involved in 8 of the last previous plannings for the president coming to the u.n. under president bush. the simple fact is united states gets to meet with whomever they want to meet with. everybody is requesting to meet you. it's a silly argument we didn't get a formal request to meet in new york and we're going miss each other in washington. if you want the to meet with the israelis, you want to meet with the pakistanis you get to meet with them. >> jon: is the media defending the president on this, kirsten? >> it depends on who you talk to.

, obama administration wanted this diary out of the way as rapidly as possible because chris stevens was concerned about the lack of security. they don't want to be held accountable for that. there was report on drudge that links the potential of a budget cut for security at the state department with what happened at benghazi. they don't want their fingerprints on that one. >> rick: if the goal was to change the sibt, did it work? >> media were on the trail. so there is nobody to throw off. the thing it's only been a few reporters who has been on this story. i think what is interesting, what was in the diary the journal to be very specific, it wasn't just concerned he an attack he was concerned about al-qaeda. that is something that is now eli lake has reported and fox news has reported on they knew within 24 hours that this was linked to al-qaeda. so that is why there was such a heavy -- this is just trying to crush this story to make sure that no other reporter would go after it. >> rick: we'll pick up on that part of the story when we come back. more on the terror attack on libya
